Skansen bærekraftslinje

Skansen High School is located in Trondheim and was the first school in Norway to offer students a general education with focus on sustainability. We were honored by being contacted to help create this new line which forced us to actively embrace a variety of research and utilize the broad range of skills at our studio.

Strategies

Mapping out the problems, needs and potensial strategies required us to get an in depth understanding of the market. Skansen is a “Steinerskole” which unfortunately has gotten a bad reputation for letting “everyone” in. One of the key factors in order to rehabilitate this was to attract new students from both in the and outside the region, use influencers in the marketing campaigns and to rebrand the school as something new and different. This also meant we hade to deal with creating a new brand and marketing campaigns to attract students which identified themselves in campaigns.

Setting up a physical installation on the workshops

Workshops & Recruitment

Aiming to create awareness of how to deal with the problems that inevitably arise when opening the new line. Presenting the new strategy and how to implement it. During the workshop we also worked on how to build a team of teachers and colleagues with the right set of skillsets and competence within sustainability. This in turn would lay the foundation for the new curriculum making it the leading in Norway while also ensuring its relevance.

“Åpen Dag” where students are invited to visit the school. We hosted workshops beforehand aiming to prepare the staff for what the youth values where we also among other things discussed the importance of a good first impression.

Marketing & Branding

For skansen we created a fun and colorful brand which stays true to the Steinerpedagogikk which a lot of the school is funded upon but also introducing something new to the market of schools. The branding consisted of different paper elements giving us a broad variety of ways to play with the branding while still being recognizable and keeping a professional estethics. We tied the digital branding with physical elements on the school, in addition the branding enabled the students to be able to recreate and participate in the branding by creating physical origami elements.
